This is too funny. Did you know pickle week is celebrated in May? If I do a post, I’m just going to have to grab this link. Deep Fried Twinkies, yes, Deep-Fried Pickles, oh well…
BTW Karen, I’m having a free cookbook give-away tomorrow (4th) at “my place” It’s a GREAT cookbook peppered with history. If you get a chance, stop by to try to WIN!!!
I’m still tapping:)
I had no idea pickle week was coming up, Louise! I wonder why they have it in May rather than at the end of the gardening season when so many things may need pickling. Grab away at the link if you like it.
There’s also a post with a rare-ish recipe for Maine Mustard Pickles (staunch strong survivors of ancient pickledom) here if you like strong staunch pickles.
I’ll stop by to see this cookbook giveaway at your charming abode. Thanks!
Hi Karen,
According to the International Pickle Society: First celebrated in 1948, International Pickle Week spans two full weekends and includes the traditional start of the summer season, Memorial Day weekend. I read somewhere else that it is the fourth week in May. Now, I know Vespucci was a pickle dealer but he was born in March. Who knows:)
I don’t think I will be posting this year anyway, I’m going to Idaho for two weeks to visit my grandchildren May18-29th Whoopie!!! “See ya” tomorrow:)
Have a wonderful visit, Louise. Pickle Week will miss you!
Nice music — although the pickles are mute in this version.
